Wild Church
Fall 2024

Our Wild Church practice centers around 30 minutes of solo time for you to connect with God in creation, through wandering or stillness. We open with prayer and singing, and close with gluten-free communion followed by a lunch potluck.

Wild Church at Fairhaven Park
Saturday, September 21st 11:00am-12:30pm
followed by potluck!

In September, we're gathering at the little tables in the grass near the Fairhaven Park Picnic Shelter.

Driving directions: From Chuckanut Drive, enter the Fairhaven Park entrance. Pass the first parking area and drive up the hill, then take the right-hand fork. We'll be just to the left of the picnic shelter, a few feet from the parking spots, on level grass.

Bus directions:
Take the 105 bus to Old Fairhaven Parkway @ 16th St. You'll see street signs for the 16th & Cowgill culdesac, a few yards from the bus stop. The trailhead at the far end of the culdesac there, to the left of Parkway Homes. Turn left at the trailhead marker, then follow signs for Fairhaven Park.
Wide, packed earth trail with some some grade. If you get lost text Rachael: 773-234-8108

What to expect at Wild Church! (in-person, outdoors in Bellingham WA)

* an opening with some silence and a land acknowledgment
* sharing of names and pronouns
* one or two songs, a capella unless it's warm enough for instruments
* 30 minutes of time to wander freely on your own or stay put, practicing mindfulness and experiencing nature
* prayers using gender-inclusive language for God
* we build an earth altar together (photos below) and share about our wandering time
* a casual ritual of communion with GF & vegan bites and sips (food and drink depend on the season)
* everything is invitational/optional, participate as you feel comfortable, nothing is required or pressured
* we wrap up after about an hour! when possible we do a potluck right afterwards

* theology: universalist, panentheistic process theology, queer theology, no atonement theology (God does not cause or require suffering or violence)
